GreenSquareDC Engages Multiplex for Groundbreaking WAi1 Net Zero Data Centre Project – Perth, WA

We are thrilled to announce that premier global construction company, Multiplex, has been named as the preferred contractor for ourrevolutionary $1bn, 96MW WAi1 Net Zero Data Centre project.

Multiplex, renowned for their expertise in delivering complex, large-scale projects, brings a wealth of experience and a commitment tosustainable construction practices. Their involvement underscores thesignificance of this project and aligns with our shared vision for asustainable AI enabled future.

WAi1 is not just another data centre project. It’s designed to helpbe a game-changer for our industry and the burgeoning AI market. We’re looking to redefine what’s possible in terms of sustainability, cost per delivered MW and advanced AI-enabled technology.

Here’s just some of what we believe makes WAi1 stand out:

🌿 We’re eliminating diesel fossil fuels and replacing them with renewable diesel for backup generation. Green hydrogen and/or fuel cells will of course be considered for future stages.

💧 Our innovative proposed groundwater cooling loop and facility water perfect for AI / HPC workloads provide wastewater-free cooling at a lower cost and with lower emissions than traditional cooling tower designs.

🌍 We’re looking to utilise low carbon concrete and other sustainable materials to dramatically reduce embodied carbon. This means we’re removing thousands of tonnes of CO2 from the environment.

🔋 We’re sourcing certified 100% green power from local suppliers and planning our own proposed ~150MW wind and solar farm to help provide 24/7 net-zero renewable power to our customers.

Our WAi1 design looks set to remove around 30,000 tonnes of CO2e in embodied carbon and around 500,000 tonnes of CO2e in emissions being released into the atmosphere annually.

This pioneering initiative appears unmatched in the Australian andeven broader APAC data centre market. And it’s particularly relevant given the Federal Government’s recent announcement of mandatory Scope 1, 2 and 3 reporting commencing in 2024 for large companies in Australia.

We’re proud to be leading the way in sustainable, cost effective, AI-enabled data centre technology.
